Git / How to download all files in a gist without having git installed

The following command will make it possible to download all files that the specified gist contains:

curl -L https://gist.github.com/username/gistid/download | tar -xvz --strip-components=1

Example:

~ curl -L https://gist.github.com/tkanoff/baf267cc87c95c74b71b/download/ | tar -xvz --strip-components=1

Git / How to archive current repo to a zip archive

Git has this functionality built-in. The following command will archive the current git repo's state (HEAD) in a zip archive and name it with the current directory name:

git archive -o "${PWD##*/}.zip" HEAD
